Annapolis Towne Centre Selected as ’Project of the Year’

Lifestyle Center Recognized by Land Development Council

Owings Mills, Md. (November 04, 2010) — Greenberg Gibbons announced today that its Annapolis Towne Centre project, a $500 million mixed-use development in Annapolis, Md., has been named the “Project of the Year“ by the 2010 Land Development Council’s Excellence in Community Development Awards, presented by the Home Builders Association of Maryland.

The Land Development Council Award of Excellence program recognizes the most creative, first-class development projects that are sensitive to their surrounding communities, and make appropriate use of existing natural elements.

“We are honored that Annapolis Towne Centre has been recognized as the premier example of excellent design and positive community impact within the state of Maryland,” says Brian Gibbons, President and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons.

Annapolis Towne Centre is an open-air lifestyle center that includes 2 million square feet of residential, retail and office space. Originally an abandoned strip mall, the site required the clean-up of one of the largest dry cleaner chemical spills in Maryland’s history. While building Annapolis Towne Centre, Greenberg Gibbons voluntarily conducted $5 million worth of environmental remediation and implemented one of the most comprehensive storm water management programs in Anne Arundel County’s history.

Today, Annapolis Towne Centre is a premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination. The mixed-use development is anchored by a 170,000-square-foot Target and one of the largest Whole Foods Markets in the country. Other retailers include 24 Hour Fitness, Coldwater Creek, Brooks Brothers, Restoration Hardware and Talbots. Restaurants include Brio, Gordon Biersch and P.F. Chang’s.

The project has created more than 2,800 new jobs, and retail sales are expected to top $300 million annually. Greenberg Gibbons’ local involvement also resulted in the creation of a new community asset called the Mount Olive Community Life Center.
