GREENBERG GIBBONS CORPORATION SELECTS JOHN HESS, JR. AS VICE PRESIDENT AND GUSTAVO ARANGOAS VICE PRESIDENT, PROJECT DIRECTOR
Owings Mills, MD (July 13, 2004) – Greenberg Gibbons Commercial Corporation, a full-service commercial real estate development company, has appointed John Hess, Jr. to the position of Vice President, and has named Gustavo E. Arango as Vice President, Project Director. Mr. Hess was formerly Senior Director of Leasing for Prime Retail, and Mr. Arango was previously Senior Project Manager for The Rouse Company.

In his new position, Mr. Hess will oversee all aspects of development and leasing for Alico Lakes Village, a 31-acre retail site positioned at the intersection of Interstate 75 and Alico Road in Fort Myers, Florida. The Company has preliminary plans to construct a mixed-use development project, supporting approximately 250,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, plus a hotel. Construction is expected to commence by first quarter 2005.
Mr. Hess brings more than twenty-five years of retail and commercial real estate experience to the company. He has held management positions with The Rouse Company, Ernst & Young, Garr Consulting Group and Macy’s. He spent thirteen years with Hess Apparel, Inc., rising to the position of President for the last five years.
“Alico Lakes Village represents an important venture in Florida, and we were looking for a professional that could successfully incorporate our business model and philosophies into this market,” explained Greenberg, Chairman of the Board. “In John, we have a seasoned veteran that has a proven proficiency in leasing, development, management and operations. We view him as a leader that will pave the way for a number of successful retail projects in the Florida region,” he added.
Mr. Hess earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Syracuse University and currently resides in Baltimore, MD.

Mr. Arango will have construction management responsibilities for Hunt Valley Towne Centre, a 900,000 square foot mixed-used project underway in Hunt Valley, MD and Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole, a $400 million redevelopment project in Annapolis that will combine retail, office and residential uses, as well as a hotel. He will act as a liaison between the company and the team of architects, engineers and general contractors working on the two town centers.
Mr. Arango brings more than nine years of retail, residential, office and hospitality construction experience to the company and, in addition to The Rouse Company, has also worked for Phil Bradstock & Co., Flour Daniel and Interlink Development Group.

Mr. Arango earned a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Puerto Rico and a Construction Management degree from Arizona State University, and presently resides in Baltimore.
