Greenberg Gibbons Breaks Ground on Frederick Brickworks, a New $450+ Million Mixed-Use Destination in Maryland
Baltimore, Md. (July 15, 2026) — Greenberg Gibbons, one of the East Coast’s premier developers, investors, and operators, broke ground today on Frederick Brickworks—a $450+ million, 65-acre mixed-use destination in Frederick, Md. The firm celebrated the milestone alongside community leaders and project partners, including City of Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor and Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater, and announced several key retailers. The groundbreaking follows Greenberg Gibbons’ recent closing on the land in June.
“Today’s groundbreaking represents an important step forward for Frederick Brickworks and reflects the strong momentum behind this project,” said Eric Walter, president of Greenberg Gibbons. “We’re especially excited to announce Whole Foods Market as the anchor tenant, along with several other retailers, and look forward to creating a destination that expands the shopping, dining, and residential experiences for the Frederick community.”
Frederick Brickworks will be anchored by Whole Foods Market and a new-to-market boutique fitness studio. The development will also feature a mix of key retailers and restaurants, including honeygrow, First Watch, Shake Shack, Dave’s Hot Chicken, and Inspire Nail Bar. The first phase of development will also include 332 contemporary apartments and 320 for-sale townhomes built by Wormald and NVR, Inc. and is expected to be completed in 2028.
