Eric Devito

Chief Transactions and Legal Officer
Mr. DeVito joined Greenberg Gibbons in 2018 and serves as a Chief Transactions and Legal Officer managing the Leasing, Legal and Tenant Coordination functions. He also oversees the company’s Human Resources, IT, and Risk Management teams. He has been an attorney for more than 25 years in both private practice and as an in-house counsel. His practice has included commercial contract negotiation, real estate transactions, general business consultation, evaluation of tax incentives and economic development, and supply agreements for large industrial users. Prior to joining Greenberg Gibbons, Mr. DeVito was a Principal at the firm Stone Mattheis Xenopoulos & Brew, PC in Washington, D.C., representing both real estate developers and industrial clients. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and General Counsel for Ribera Development, LLC, a real estate development company in Annapolis, Maryland. Mr. DeVito started his career as a tax accountant with Arthur Andersen specializing in taxation of partnerships and corporations.

Mr. DeVito received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from The Ohio State University and his law degree from the University of Maryland. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars.

  • Product: Mixed-use development in Laurel, Maryland with 1,850 residential units (single-family attached and multi-family apartments), 50,000 square feet community retail
  • Role:  Involvement in all aspects of the project for over 15 years as both a developer and practicing attorney (transactional contracts, zoning, and entitlements)

Anderson’s Corner

  • Product: Mixed-use development in the City of Laurel, Maryland with 378 garden-style multi-family apartment units (Avalon Laurel) and a Royal Farms gas station and convenience store
  • Role:  Land developer/owner of the project (in-house attorney management of contracts, zoning and entitlements)

Highland Farms and Highland Meadows

  • Product: Residential development of 118 units in Gambrills, Maryland (townhouses and single-family detached houses)
  • Role:  Land developer of the project (in-house attorney management of contracts, zoning and entitlements)

Prince George’s Plaza/Dewey Property

  • Product: 21 acre medium/high density residential project in Hyattsville, Maryland with 810 residential units (130 condominium units and 680 multi-family apartments) (approved and partially under construction)
  • Role:  Attorney representing owner/developer of the project (negotiated underlying sale and development agreements with homebuilder and two apartment developers)

Red Oak Crossing

  • Product: Mixed-use development in Glen Burnie, Maryland with 84 multi-family condominium units, 45 townhomes, and a 15,000 square feet medical office building
  • Role:  Land developer/owner of the project (in-house attorney management of contracts, zoning and entitlements)

Shannon’s Glen

  • Product: Mixed-use development in Laurel, Maryland with 159 townhouses, 364 garden-style multi-family apartments, and 3 retail pads.
  • Role:  Attorney representing developer of the project (negotiated underlying sale and development agreements, representation in zoning and entitlement process, including rezonings, variances and special exceptions)

Shipley’s Homestead

  • Product: Planned unit development in Laurel, Maryland with 820 residential units (townhomes and multi-family apartments) and 120,000 square feet of commercial/retail use (planned)
  • Role: Attorney representing developer of the project (representation in zoning and entitlement process, including rezonings, variances and special exceptions)

Two Rivers

  • Product: Planned unit development in Crofton, Maryland with 2,060 residential units (single-family attached and detached homes)
