Excitement Builds for 1.2-Million-Square-Foot, Mixed-Use Development
Owings Mills, Md. (March 7, 2012) — The new Target store at Waugh Chapel Towne Centre in Gambrills, Md., will open its doors to the public on March 11. This is the first of several planned spring openings for retailers and restaurants at the new 1.2 million-square-foot, open-air development. The $275 million mixed-use project will include leading national retail stores and restaurants, as well as office space and luxury townhomes and apartments.
“We feel the buzz building in the community now that we’re less than a week away from the opening of Target,” said Brian Gibbons, president and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons. “Retailers are also excited about this project – we have a phenomenal mix of national and regional tenants.”
A 50,000-square-foot Dick’s Sporting Goods, PETCO, Panera, and Old Navy are also preparing to open this spring. Wegmans is slated to open in October.
Cited as the largest retail project currently under construction in the country by Shopping Centers Today magazine, Waugh Chapel Town Centre is located in West Anne Arundel County, Md., adjacent to Village at Waugh Chapel. The development will feature nearly 650,000 square feet of retail space and 130,000 square feet of Class A office space.
Additionally, Bozzuto Group is building a 298-unit apartment complex, The Beacon at Waugh Chapel, representing 365,000 square feet. The $57 million, four-story building is slated to open in 2013.
